We are very excited to announce the opening of Ström Architects' new studio in the Turks and Caicos Islands, marking a significant step in the practice's international growth.

The Caribbean has increasingly shaped our recent work, and establishing a permanent presence in the region allows us to deepen that relationship. The islands' extraordinary landscape, light and coastal setting provide an ideal context for our approach to contemporary architecture, calm, precise and defined by quality rather than excess.

Reflecting on the expansion, Magnus describes the move as a natural progression for the practice:

“I have always been obsessed with the horizon; it represents constant forward momentum, much like our business. The Turks and Caicos Islands offer the perfect setting for this evolution, where we aim to contribute a ‘quiet luxury’ that complements the natural landscape.”

The studio will be jointly led by Founder and Creative Director Magnus Ström and Director Kyle Barclay. While Kyle trained as an architect, he has built his career as a project manager, accumulating over fifteen years of experience across the islands leading high-end private residences and boutique resort projects, alongside earlier work in London, Dubai and Melbourne.

That combination of Ström's design expertise and Kyle's on-the-ground project management and construction knowledge gives clients a strong, integrated team across the full scope of a project, from initial concept through to completion.

For clients who require it, Ström Architects offers full project management services. In the Caribbean context, where quality control and reliable delivery are paramount, having a dedicated project manager embedded within the architectural team provides a level of oversight and assurance that makes a material difference to the finished result.

Kyle Barclay adds:

“Having spent the last ten years living and building in the Turks and Caicos Islands, I understand that this unique landscape requires a specific approach. My partnership with Ström Architects is built on a shared synergy. Magnus brings the vision of ‘quiet luxury’, and I bring the technical knowledge to deliver it here.”

Magnus and Kyle first collaborated in 2022 on Nivå at South Bank, a private villa development on the Turtle Tail peninsula. That partnership established a shared commitment to clarity, longevity and detail, values that now underpin this expansion.

The studio is already engaged on a number of new sites across the islands, with further announcements to follow in the coming months.

With studios now in both the UK and the Turks and Caicos Islands, Ström Architects is well positioned to serve its growing North American and Caribbean client base, continuing to deliver architecture that is refined, considered and deeply connected to place.
