We are seeking a talented and motivated Part 2 Architectural Assistant to join our studio in Lymington. Ström Architects specialises in bespoke, design-led residential projects, offering interior design alongside architecture. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity: you will work across live projects from concept through to delivery, gaining broad, hands-on exposure to different building types and every stage of the design process, from early concept work and planning submissions through to technical detailing, consultant coordination, and construction-stage support.
Salary: £30,000 – £33,000 (dependent on experience)
Location: Lymington studio
Start date: 2 September 2026
Applications close: 31 July 2026
Day to day, you will assist in developing concept designs and technical drawings for bespoke residential and high-end development projects, collaborate closely with project teams to shape innovative, high-quality design outcomes, and help prepare presentation materials and technical documentation. You will liaise directly with consultants and other project stakeholders under the guidance of senior team members, and take an active part in design discussions, studio activities, and project reviews. Initially, you will also support the marketing side of the practice — helping with award submissions, keeping our website and architecture platforms up to date, and contributing to social media campaigns.
We're looking for
Someone with a RIBA Part 2 qualification (or equivalent), a strong eye for design and detail, and a genuine passion for creating innovative, high-quality work. Strong 3D modelling skills are essential, with experience in SketchUp and ArchiCAD a benefit but not essential. We value curiosity, initiative, and excellent communication just as highly as technical ability, and if you have some marketing or communications experience, that's a welcome bonus too, though by no means essential.
What we offer
You will join a close-knit, collaborative studio that genuinely invests in your development. We offer structured support towards your Part 3 qualification through mentoring and real project experience, alongside CPD programmes and access to learning resources. You can expect flexible working hours, additional leave over the holiday periods, and regular social activities, team outings, and inspiration sessions that make studio life genuinely enjoyable. Perhaps most excitingly, you will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to innovative, high-profile projects across more than 10 countries, working alongside a talented and ambitious team.
How to apply
Please send your cover letter, CV and portfolio (max file size 10MB) to studio@stromarchitects.com.
